For Johannes Zillinger farming organically is not a trend, it’s a lifestyle – one that his family has been living for over 35 years. His father Hans converted the family’s 17th century estate and mixed agricultural farm to organic in 1983. Located in the community of Velm-Gotzendorf in Austria’s largest wine region of Weinviertel, Niederosterreich, Hans is considered to be one of Austria’s pioneers in organic wine. 

The Zillingers' believe that healthy soil is the key to remarkable and exciting wines. When Johannes took over the estate in 2013, he took his father’s teachings a step further by converting everything to biodynamics.  

He likes to push the boundaries with his winemaking style while also paying homage to single vineyard sites and the indigenous varieties that make Austrian wine so unique and special.
